Introduction
During the early stages of Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Rick Baker’s Cinovation Studios developed a series of proof-of-concept Mogwai puppets to explore how the new characters would function visually as a group. These prototypes were remarkably close to the final filming models and marked the first time the core Mogwai lineup—Gizmo, Daffy, Mohawk, Lenny, and George—could be seen together with their distinctive fur patterns and personalities beginning to take shape.

Daffy’s design was already largely in place, showcasing his wide-eyed, manic energy, though his ears had not yet reached their final form. Mohawk and Lenny, on the other hand, underwent further refinements before their on-screen versions were finalized, evolving in sculptural detail. These early puppets were essential in establishing the group dynamic and visual contrast that would later define their roles in the film.
